For the majority of applications, AMET is able to interface its range of controls and fixtures with virtually any brand of welding power source. Because our controllers provide pulse and slope functions it is not necessary for the power source to have these in-built.

AMET does however manufacture it’s own power sources for Hot Wire and Variable Polarity Plasma application. In these cases the output waveform is of critical importance.

Variable Polarity

AMET VPC450 power source represents a significant advancement in both TIG and
Plasma welding.  Proven Digital Signal Processor (DSP) and “Intelligent Power Module” (IPM) technology produces an extremely accurate and stable Variable Polarity (VP) welding power source.  The AMET VP source provides accurate high speed VP switching rates, as well as independent straight and reverse time control.

Arc Starter

AMET has developed stand-alone arc start units for TIG and Plasma.

Two models are available, the HF-AS-300 (300 Amp application) and the HF-AS-500 (500 Amp). They automatically detect when an arc is established and stop generating the high frequency signal. Both models are rated at100% duty cycle.
